Main use cases in alpine skiing
Total time
Measure a complete section from start to finish with an automated system designed for skiing.
Split times
Add one or more intermediate transmitters to analyze the course more precisely and measure specific sections accurately.
Start gate
Trigger the start with the Tx Gate Pro, a start transmitter designed for skiing. The start is activated when the wand is moved by the skier.
Live results and LED display
View your live results in MyFreelap and add an LED Display if you want to show times on screen during training.
Useful components
FxChip Radio
Attach the FxChip to the back of the skier’s boot, in a vertical position, with the front facing outward. The transponder turns on automatically when in motion and turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Relay Coach BLE
Place the Relay Coach BLE after the finish line to receive the transponder data, store it and transmit it to your mobile device and LED display. Place it 2 m after the FINISH transmitter and 2 m to the side.
Tx Gate Pro
Use the Tx Gate Pro as a start gate. Attach it to a pole, place the wand at ankle height, parallel to the ground, and turn the front of the unit toward the course.
Tx Track Pro
Use the Tx Track Pro as a split or finish transmitter. Place it on the snow, less than 3 m from the skier’s path, with the arrow perpendicular to the slope. To widen detection, place it under the snow in the finish area.
LED Display
Add an LED Display to show live times during training.
The MyFreelap app
Then create your training session in MyFreelap. From the home screen:
- select a preconfigured drill and follow the tutorial
- or use Quick Timing to start with the basic features
- then click Start to receive your data
Getting started with alpine skiing
I am new to Freelap
Start with a standard setup using FxChip, Relay Coach BLE, Tx Gate Pro and Tx Track Pro.
I want a real ski start
Use the Tx Gate Pro to trigger the start with a gate designed for skiing.
I want to measure split times
Add one or more Tx Track Pro transmitters coded as LAP. Respect a minimum of 0.7 seconds between two transmitters, with a maximum of 11 transmitters on the path.
I want to display times on screen
Add an LED Display and place it between 10 m and 30 m maximum after the Relay Coach BLE, approximately 1 meter above the ground.
